This educational portal is an extension to the mini project for Information System & Organisations (ISORG). It is set up to share knowledge with our students on how they can trace the IP address of any visitors who have left any comments on their educational portal through tagboard such as cbox.
This is because during the development of our mini-project initiated by our ISORG lecturer, Mr Jack Koh, some of our student portals have been left with links to undesirable sites. Therefore, in order to trace the culprit, our group has gained additional knowledge on how to trace the IP address captured by cbox.
Step-by-Step Tutorials are shown as follows:
1) Identify that an entry has been made in any chatbox:

2) Log in to cbox to locate the captured IP Address:

IP Address: 81.89.80.59
3) Utilise some of the IP Tracing Websites available:
http://aruljohn.com/track.pl
http://www.ip-adress.com/ (We demostrate with this website)
4) Enter the captured IP Address into the search field:

5) Results of IP address will be shown!!!

Limitations of Tracing Website:
- Note that the results of the IP trace may not be 100% accurate as different Tracing Websites may display different results. Therefore, it is advisable to visit a few Tracing Websites before coming to a conclusion.
- Person who added the comment may be "piggybacking" on any unsecured wireless network. Thus, the IP Address captured does not reflect the real culprit. This shows the importance of securing your wireless network.
